I thought of you today because I found myself in a really spacious space, where I realize how much I love music and how it really makes me feel. I find when I am in that space, I'm reminded of you because I think I was in it often when we'd play or record music, which is some of the most fun I've ever had. Where music is a meditation. It's like a Zen space, where there's no right or wrong, good or bad, everything just is. Every note just is. No pressure, no expectation. Each note is completely enough in and of itself. The space in between notes and behind notes becomes as significant as the notes, maybe even more significant. I guess I've been sort of out of that space a bit, like exploring what else is out there, only to find that what I already have is the best thing I can have. I think finding it has to do with letting go of all self judgement. Complete self acceptance in the face of whatever is in your face trying to make you think you're better or less than someone else, or that you should be doing or being or sounding different than you are. It's pretty cool shit.
